About The Position

The Community Outreach Specialist plays a critical role in supporting long-term recovery by building and maintaining a strong alumni community. This position focuses on aftercare integration, ongoing engagement, event programming, and early intervention to help individuals successfully reintegrate and sustain recovery. You are a lifeline to alumni—creating connection, accountability, and support beyond treatment. This role directly impacts long-term recovery outcomes and community belonging.

Requirements

1–2+ years in behavioral health, recovery support, outreach, or alumni relations
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities and events
Comfortable using apps, texting platforms, and virtual tools
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally
Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries
3+ years free from substance misuse

Responsibilities

Meet with clients prior to discharge to integrate them into aftercare and alumni programming
Follow up with all discharging clients within 24 hours regardless of discharge type
Drive alumni engagement through consistent outreach, check-ins, and digital communication
Build and strengthen alumni relationships through mentorship, peer support, and networking
Provide 1:1 support for real-life needs including housing, employment, and life skills
Lead weekly alumni groups, workshops, and community meetings (in-person + virtual)
Plan and execute social events, outings, and alumni dinners to foster connection
Identify at-risk alumni and coordinate re-admission with clinical and admissions teams
Serve as a reliable support system during times of crisis or need
Track attendance, manage event logistics, and document all outreach and interactions
