As the Community Outreach Intern, you will work with Southeast Alaska Watershed Coalition staff and community-based tribal stewardship crews to develop communication plans and products to share the crews’ work and successes within their home communities. We anticipate the work will occur in up to three of these communities (Yakutat, Hoonah, Angoon, Kake, Klawock and/or Ketchikan). The intern will travel to the communities and join local staff in the field, learn about watershed stewardship projects, document the work done, and collaborate with staff to decide what and how best to communicate with their wider communities. The intern will have flexibility to explore different engagement approaches (social media, radio, in-person events, etc.) and identify one or more outlets to pursue for each community. Southeast Alaska Watershed Coalition consists of a small (7) team of restoration practitioners and scientists who are dedicated to community-based watershed stewardship in southeast Alaska. They work with a variety of partners across the region to assess, prioritize, implement, and monitor efforts to restore forest and stream habitat.
