General Summary The Community Outreach Coordinator supports the mission of the Mid Missouri Area Health Education Center (AHEC) by assisting with community engagement, health career pipeline activities, and outreach communications. This entry-level role performs event coordination, relationship building, student outreach support, and basic marketing tasks to promote healthcare careers and strengthen community partnerships across the region. The Community Outreach Coordinator works closely with AHEC and Phelps Health leadership, community partners, and educational institutions to ensure well-organized and impactful outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in education, communications, public health, social services, or a related field; or a High School diploma and experience required.
  • High levels of communication skills, concentration, ability to process and interpret diverse information while working simultaneously on several marketing/sales projects.
  • Must be able to transport self throughout the facility.
  • Must be able to lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations.
  • Moderate travel using personal vehicle required.
  • Limited overnight travel required.
  • Mileage will be reimbursed.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with schools, colleges, community organizations, and healthcare partners, particularly in rural communities.
  • Represent AHEC at career fairs, expos, community events, and partner meetings.
  • Identify and support new outreach and collaboration opportunities aligned with AHEC programs.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for partners seeking information or participation in AHEC initiatives.
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of AHEC pipeline programs and events.
  • Prepare outreach materials, presentations, and event logistics in alignment with branding guidelines.
  • Maintain calendars, participation records, documentation, and follow-up communications for evaluation and reporting.
  • Support marketing and communications efforts, including social media, digital content, event promotion, and photo documentation.
