About The Position

We’re seeking a Community Organizing Manager, a strategic and relationship‑driven leader who will guide our organizing team, empower resident leaders, and deepen community partnerships. This role is ideal for someone who believes in collective action, values diverse voices, and thrives at the intersection of community development, leadership training, and social justice.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills
  • Creative, solutions‑oriented approach to community challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, including written communication and grant writing
  • Ability to build trust across diverse communities and facilitate inclusive dialogue
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and guiding group processes
  • Deep cultural competency and understanding of trauma‑informed community work
  • Must successfully pass criminal, DOJ, and other standard background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing community organizing programs, including supervision and budgeting
  • Knowledge of affordable housing, social justice, and equity principles
  • Strong partnership‑building experience
  • Some experience with grant research, writing, and reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce) a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Fluency in a second language (Spanish, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, or Russian)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites

Responsibilities

  • Resident Leadership & Community Power-Building
  • Support residents in identifying key issues and taking collective action
  • Facilitate leadership development, trainings, and strategic planning
  • Build a strong base of resident leaders connected by shared interests
  • Help residents apply their skills to strengthen their communities
  • Partnerships & Cross-Department Collaboration
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations
  • Coordinate advocacy, training, and power‑building initiatives
  • Engage local stakeholders to support housing development efforts
  • Collaborate with Communications to amplify resident voices
  • Support grant applications and contribute to reporting, outcomes, and impact narratives
  • Comprehensive Community Development (CCD)
  • Lead neighborhood‑level initiatives focused on health, safety, housing, and wellbeing
  • Drive Creative Placemaking efforts integrating arts, culture, and storytelling
  • Support resident‑led creative projects that reflect community identity
  • Identify and help secure funding for placemaking and community development
  • Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise and mentor two full‑time Community Organizers
  • Develop training programs to strengthen outreach, engagement, and advocacy skills
  • Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and compliance
  • Strengthen collaboration with Property Management to support resident-centered work
  • Manage budgets for engagement, organizing, and leadership development
