The Community Marketing Specialist plays a vital role in advancing CAPAs mission by supporting culturally significant venues and programs including the Lincoln Theatre, Festival Latino, the Arts Festival and the Drexel Theatre. This role is ideal for a collaborative, detail-oriented marketer who values inclusion, partnership-building, and creative problem-solving. The Community Marketing Specialist, a member of CAPAs Marketing & Communications team reporting to the VP of Marketing, supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of marketing and community outreach efforts for assigned venues and festivals: the Lincoln Theatre, Festival Latino, Arts Festival and the Drexel Theatre. The Specialist works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to increase awareness, attendance, and community engagement while ensuring brand alignment and cultural authenticity. This role contributes directly to CAPAs goal of serving broad and diverse audiences across Central Ohio.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external community partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with digital marketing tools and social media platforms; ability to learn CAPA systems.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and sound judgment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, arts administration, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically, 2+ years of experience working in a public or events facility with responsibilities such as marketing, communications, community engagement, or arts/cultural organizations are needed to have sufficient experience and judgement to perform a role of this size and complexity.
  • Successful background check.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development and execution of integrated marketing plans for assigned venues and festivals, including digital,?broadcast, OOH,?print, email, social media, and grassroots efforts.
  • Coordinates marketing timelines, asset collection, and approvals to ensure campaigns launch on schedule.
  • Assists?with content creation including copywriting, basic graphic coordination, and community-focused storytelling.
  • Serves as a marketing liaison to community partners, neighborhood organizations, artists, and cultural groups connected to assigned venues and festivals.
  • Supports outreach initiatives that expand awareness and participation among diverse and historically underrepresented audiences.
  • Coordinates distribution of promotional materials and presence at community events, as?appropriate.
  • Maintains marketing calendars, asset libraries, and campaign documentation for assigned properties.
  • Tracks expenses, invoices, and basic performance metrics related to community marketing efforts.
  • Collaborates closely with ticketing, programming, and operations teams to ensure?accurate?and?timely?information is shared publicly.
  • Independently manages marketing support for assigned venues and festivals with minimal supervision.
  • Identifies?opportunities to refine or expand community marketing strategies based on data, feedback, and best practices.
  • Contributes ideas that strengthen CAPAs visibility and reputation within diverse communities across Central Ohio.
  • Promotes inclusive, culturally responsive marketing practices across assigned projects.
  • Participates in evening and weekend work as required to support festivals, events, and community engagement activities.
