About The Position

The Community Health Worker (CHW) supports community outreach, education, and engagement efforts to address health disparities and improve access to services. Under the guidance of program leadership, the CHW provides peer education and social media and health education activities. This role combines hands-on community engagement with program support and professional development.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform the responsibilities outlined above.
  • One or more years of experience working in public health.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions, workshops, or outreach events.
  • Experience supporting or coordinating social media awareness campaigns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective coordination skills, including multitasking and setting priorities.
  • Familiarity with common social media platforms.
  • Proficiency with presentation tools, graphic design platforms, and Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to create clear and engaging social media content.
  • A valid California driver license, current personal auto insurance, and an MVR sufficient to maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies.
  • Verbal and written fluency in English required

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills in a second language (particularly Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese) desired but not required.
  • Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural professional and experiential background
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the program at community events by providing outreach and peer education, sharing resources, and delivering presentations on health topics, healthy relationships, and AACI services.
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns to promote program outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ community partners and organizations.
  • Document outreach activities, services provided, and community engagement efforts.
  • Support the Program Coordinator with social media content and related tasks as needed.
  • Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.
