About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Community Health Program Coordinator is responsible for furthering the mission of Houston Food Bank by providing programmatic and operational coordination for the Community Health initiatives, including food ordering, partner compliance, and onsite distribution models. This position serves as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that Food for Change programs operate smoothly, equitably, and in alignment with nutrition standards and partner expectations. This position also supports translating learnings from past, current, and future research into practical improvements to ordering, distribution, referrals, and partner support. This position plays an important role in helping Community Health programs continuously refine and adapt to better meet the needs of the neighbors. Adhere to PACT values. Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited college or university. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
1-2 years of community-related experience (i.e., healthcare partnerships, food access, or social services).
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and insurance.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Knowledge of CRM systems.
Ability to work with a diverse population, including the public.
Ability to maintain records of materials, supplies, time, and work performed.
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Ability to translate complex findings into practical solutions.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
Is legally able to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Creates, improves, and implements process flows to ensure smooth distribution for Food for Change partners.
Ensures all Food for Change distribution models go smoothly by acting as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to align ordering with program needs, redemption patterns, and partner capacity.
Coordinates the onboarding and training for onsite distribution models for Food for Change partners.
Develops and provides training and educational opportunities, including best practices for partners in various areas (i.e., order optimization, quality assurance and compliance, food safety, client intake systems, and volunteer management).
Identifies and secures nutritious and culturally responsive foods for Food for Change partners in alignment with Houston Food Bank (HFB) distribution strategies.
Performs site visits for training and compliance purposes for onsite distribution models for Food for Change partners, including but not limited to documenting findings, follow-up corrective actions, and coordinating support to bring the site back into compliance, as needed.
Serves as an operational support contact for Community Health research and evaluation projects by assisting with site readiness and helping align research activities with day-to-day program workflow.
Translates research findings and insights into practical operational recommendations and shares learning with the Community Health team to support continuous improvement.
Assists with the expansion of pantry-network redemption sites for Food for Change partners.
Identifies community partners to increase equity in areas with limited access to food and other resources and works cross-departmentally to develop short- and long-term solutions.
Attends and actively participates in relevant community partnership groups and meetings.
Represents HFB in a variety of settings and conducts presentations at community events and meetings, as needed.
