The Community Health Educator in the acute care setting works closely with healthcare providers, hospital staff, and community organizations to address public health concerns, reduce health disparities, and empower individuals to take an active role in managing their health. Additionally, the educator coordinates community health screenings, wellness workshops, provides culturally relevant health information, and collaborates to facilitate community outreach programs. This roles collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop educational materials and programs tailored to the needs of the specific populations, such as patients with chronic diseases, underserved communities, or at-risk groups. The educator also tracks program effectiveness and ensures compliance with public health guidelines and hospital policies. The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree (any degree) but prefer to have experience in oncology, nursing, community education, or public/population health. The candidate will be comfortable with working autonomously, engaging community-based leaders, and public speaking. This position focuses on Community Outreach, specifically cancer education, screening, and prevention for Northeastern NC. The Community Health Educator facilitates support groups and engages Physicians and Community Leaders to plan large scale screening events and other outreach activities. The ideal candidate would have a background in Oncology, Community Outreach, or Population Health. Strong preference for clinical backgrounds such as RN, LPN, or CMA.
