About The Position

Purpose of Position: Provide, at a level consistent with training/certification, acute, chronic, emergency and preventive care to village residents according to the CHA/P Manual under the direct supervision of the NSHC medical staff and/or the standing orders authorized by medical staff. Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Pass Kawerak TABE language, reading and math tests at 8th grade level and math tests at 6th grade level or higher
  • Complete and pass Emergency Trauma training CETT. Must obtain CHP certification within three years of hire. Must be eligible for Community Health Aide Program Certification Board at the end of Session III Training

Responsibilities

  • Provide, at a level consistent with training/certification, patient care effectively and efficiently in a caring manner, carried out the medical regime and discharge plan for each patient as prescribed by the physician
  • Gather or oversee the collection of information, accurately documenting it, demonstrating adherence with the CHA/P process to promote patient outcomes while ensuring completion and submission of all required reports and forms according to established protocols
  • Prepare and send laboratory tests, according to established procedure, to NSHC for analysis when requested by a medical doctor or in accordance with the CHA/P manual while maintaining waived standards as required by the Joint Commission
  • Working at a level consistent with training/certification, calculate dosages and administer medications accurately under a medical doctor’s approval.
  • Conduct a monthly audit of controlled substances and record results appropriately, ensuring safe and accurate enteral therapy
  • Perform necessary screening and/or other medical/administrative procedures needed for patient care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
