COMPENSATION $61,800 - $87,550 annually + a generous benefits package to include medical, dental, vision and 10% employer paid 401A through VOYA Financial. Hiring Salary Range: $61,800 - $74,675 (starting salary will be within this range based upon qualifications) SUMMARY Employees in this classification provide ongoing coordination and participation in the Community Engagement program for the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA). Incumbents will establish and maintain a variety of working relationships with internal and external business professionals, stakeholders, and internal divisions; execute on engagement strategies and plans; assist with organizing events and promotions; uses data to iterate and refine campaigns and/or Community Engagement activities and support various departments in maintaining brand voice and consistency. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The Community Engagement Specialist I is the intermediate-level class within the Community Engagement Specialist series and is expected to utilize skills and knowledge to perform the duties identified below. Incumbents within this classification initially perform some complex assignments and receive increasingly complex duties and responsibilities as experience is gained. This role reports directly to the Community Engagement Manager who manages the Ontario International Airport Authority’s marketing, communications, and external affairs programs.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position.
  • Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in Public Administration or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for required education on a year for year basis
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of community engagement, public relations, marketing, operations, or other related fields.
  • Valid Driver’s License equivalent to a California Class C driver’s license
  • Acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment
  • Ability to pass all background / reference checks, knowledge examinations, as well as aptitude tests necessary to obtain an OIAA employee badge at ONT

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community relations/engagement for a medium to large commercial airport is desirable.
  • Possess subject matter experience and a track record of accomplishment in all or many of the disciplines outlined previously in this job description

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between the airport and community.
  • Educates and informs the community on a wide range of airport/airline information and addresses areas of concern.
  • Fosters positive working relationships with local businesses, non-profits, and community members.
  • Identifies and coordinates opportunities for the community to experience the airport through special events and activities.
  • Promotes special events, activations, and ground breakings.
  • Participates in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and priorities for activities and operations.
  • Administers various programs and policies to support community engagement initiatives and goals.
  • Compiles and analyzes data and makes recommendations related to work operations, department policies, and administrative procedures; analyzes and interprets operating and activity reports.
  • Responds to requests for information related to statistical, technical, operational, or administrative data.
  • Routinely researches information and meets with key stakeholders to stay up to date on airport operations and changes.
  • Maintains strategic partnerships with community groups
  • Gathers and tracks data to assist with airport operations.
  • Presents and serves on panels to discuss the airport and its services and amenities.
  • Coordinates airport sponsorships and memberships.
  • Orders and maintains inventory for airport promotional items.
  • Responds verbally or in writing to inquiries, compliments, or complaints.
  • Conducts visitor tours of the airfield and inside terminals.
  • Coordinates international conferences hosted at the airport.
  • Assists with customer care and/or terminal re-population during airport emergencies.
  • Observes and reports any facility/terminal discrepancies that may have an operational impact to the public.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual and monthly reports and other reports of the related to department activities.
  • Does related work as required.
  • May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes or to meet technological changes or emergencies.
