About The Position

This Community Employment Program Technician (CEPT) serves as a lead trainer within assigned work areas by providing specialized instructional training designed to maximize individual independence across multiple skill domains, including vocational, communication, academic, money management, dining, domestic, and self-help skills. The position assists teachers in assessing individuals’ strengths, needs, and preferences to support the development of effective instructional objectives and activities. This role ensures instructional training programs are implemented correctly and consistently, with instructional responses and data accurately documented. The CEPT monitors training programs, providing ongoing input and recommendations to support progress and continuous program development. The position maintains accurate records of work hours, performance data, and skills demonstrated by individuals. Additionally, the CEPT serves as a mentor to support staff and functions as a job coach for residents working both on campus and in community-based settings. The working hours for the CEPT position are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Education and/or experience that is directly related to the job and results in demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least one year of experience performing tasks similar to the ones assigned or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license as applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of practical application of task analysis and instructional methodologies; data collection systems; of practical application of behavioral programming techniques.
  • Working knowledge of characteristics of population served and levels of support leading to independence.
  • Skills in reading comprehension and writing.
  • Ability to instruct; to establish rapport and relate to population served, their teacher and a variety of service disciplines (occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech/language pathologist, psychologist, social workers, nurses and home managers) to observe behavior and communicate observations and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Represents the Center/Department and supports community relationships and professional courtesies, both on and off campus
  • Experience in receiving/delivering of goods
  • Basic knowledge of principles and practices used in customer service.
  • Experience in vocational work settings with knowledge of instructional methodologies; recording responses to instruction, orientation and introduction of new job task, knowledge of time keeping records kept on Individuals employed
  • Successful completion of NCI and CPR
  • Clear Valid Driver's License
  • Experience driving oversized delivery and regular vehicles, forklifts, and/or operating hand carts
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Experience with providing therapeutic interventions to encourage appropriate work behaviors, deescalate inappropriate behaviors and increase compliance with work request
  • Experience in landscaping/grounds work
  • Experience in auto detailing
  • Experience in stocking and inventory
