About The Position

The Community Employment Program Manager position is a professional/supervisory position which manages various components of a comprehensive community employment program designed to enable intellectually and/or physically disabled individuals to make the transition from a community program to competitive employment. The primary duties involve ensuring that appropriate vocational assessments and employment opportunities are provided to the persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities living at Murdoch Developmental Center. This position is administratively responsible for the Campus Work Program, Supported Employment Program and the Soap Packaging and Laundry Program. Duties also include the supervision of staff and serving as a member of the management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in therapeutic or vocational programming which involves program/goal planning, task analysis, or teaching; or
  • Associate’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in therapeutic or vocational programming which involves program/goal planning; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The applicant will be required to successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series”; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
  • Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using behavior management techniques, task analysis techniques, and teaching strategies for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Experience building community employment partnerships.
  • Knowledge of Federal Wage and Hour laws.
  • Some knowledge of Employment First Initiative.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for documentation, data management, and communication
