The Community Development and Engagement Education Manager leads and manages priority projects that advance VSUW’s Education impact area. This position implements and executes project plans related to Education initiatives—including developing reports, preparing applications, collecting, and analyzing data, and monitoring progress—to ensure program objectives are met and strategies remain aligned with organizational goals. The Manager also serves as the project lead for the Community Literacy Hubs, coordinating implementation, partner engagement, and performance tracking to strengthen early literacy, family engagement, and community-based learning outcomes. Working closely with the Community Development & Engagement (CDE) Education Director, this role contributes to solutions that further VSUW’s mission and accelerate meaningful educational impact in the community. The Manager plans, organizes, and drives high-quality tasks and initiatives to ensure relevant services, strong outcomes, and effective stewardship of resources.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in education, child development, human services, or a related discipline, including foundational understanding of early childhood development, early literacy, and family engagement principles.
  • A combination of education or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the nonprofit or education field, including direct work and collaboration with a variety of school roles (e.g., teachers, administrators, support staff).
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace tools, and commonly used virtual meeting platforms.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and daily access to personal vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency preferred (Spanish/English); ability to communicate effectively with diverse families and community partners is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Leads major, high-impact projects with full ownership of contract management, reporting analysis, and strategic leadership across teams
  • Builds and maintains relationships with districts, individual schools, external stakeholders, and partners.
  • Represents VSUW in public meetings and captures appropriate information to report back to other team members.
  • Collaborates across departments, while working closely with the CDE Leadership Team to deliver projects successfully.
  • Seeks and develops strategic opportunities to strengthen fundraising efforts, secure grants, and deepen community engagement
  • Strengthens customer service by cultivating relationships across departments and the wider community, collaborating, and convening stakeholders to gather key information, drive alignment, and support effective follow-up
  • Prepare/process documents and reports in VSUW’s web-based systems, including checking to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Other projects as assigned.
