About The Position

Performs specialized community support for the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Provides mobile crisis outreach to individuals with mental, behavioral, or substance use disorders. Primary duties include de-escalation and stabilization of those experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed daily.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Education, or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.
  • Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications required.
  • Must pass police background check which includes polygraph.
  • Must pass CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) training within the first week of hire.
  • Polygraph required with the exception of current OPD employees.
