Community Crisis Support Specialist (OPD)

Performs specialized community support for the Orlando Police Department (OPD). Provides mobile crisis outreach to individuals with mental, behavioral, or substance use disorders. Primary duties include de-escalation and stabilization of those experiencing a mental health or substance crisis or unsheltered living. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed daily.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Counseling, Education, or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License required.
- Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications required.
- Must pass police background check which includes polygraph.
- Must pass CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System) training within the first week of hire.
- Polygraph required with the exception of current OPD employees.
