About The Position

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s oldest and largest public housing authority with more than 152,000 apartments and over 370,000 residents. NYCHA’s mission is to provide quality housing for New Yorkers that is sustainable, inclusive, and safe, while fostering opportunities for economic mobility. NYCHA also administers a citywide Section 8 leased housing program that serves over 200,000 tenants. The Community Associate for the Lead Hazard Control Department (Abatement) unit responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and improve community services by performing liaison function including, improving communication between City agencies, community organizations and groups, and the individuals they represent and service.
  • Perform difficult and responsible clerical operations.
  • Perform daily data entry tasks in Maximo.
  • Prepare and maintain records, written reports, daily and monthly statistics.
  • Provide administrative support to the unit as appropriate; coordinate meeting schedules and other related tasks as needed.
