About The Position

The Communication Specialist serves as a primary execution role within Georgia Military College's Office of Communications & Government Affairs, responsible for creating and delivery written, photo, video, and digital content that supports institutional priorities. Working under the director of the Director of Institutional Communications, this position ensures GMC's stories, events, and initiatives are communicated accurately, consistently, and professionally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ years of experience in a communications-related role involving writing, photography, videography, or digital content creation
  • Strong written and storytelling skills
  • Basic photography and videography skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Attention to detail and professionalism in content creation
  • Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with coursework in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in higher education, institutional communications, or a related professional setting
  • Experience with social media content creation
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with photo and video editing
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
