About The Position

DCG is seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to support the development and execution of a Federal Law Enforcement customer’s social media strategy to drive engagement and build awareness. This position works closely with the client team to continuously improve the direction and strategy associated with engagement across multiple target audiences, including news media, advocacy organizations, and the general public. Due to the sensitive nature of many topics that this team engages with, this role requires a steady and attentive professional who has the capability and experience to navigate dynamic and challenging environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Communications, with a demonstrated understanding of engagement strategy, multimedia production, media relations and crisis communications
  • Proven ability to create and execute social media on behalf of a client with an in depth understanding of the client’s tone, engagement, and demographic/geographic reach
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and client management skills
  • Ability to obtain a federal Public Trust clearance

  • Experience in Federal Law Enforcement, National Security, or other sensitive subject areas is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop structured plans for complex campaigns, transforming broad tasks into actionable steps to meet project goals.
  • Monitor trends, user engagement, and feedback to inform content strategy and improve outreach efforts.
  • Align daily press tasks with long-range strategies so every product contributes to broader communications objectives.
  • Develop internal and external content writing on behalf of the Department and various key principals across formats including: social media, internal employee newsletter, employee spotlights, research projects, Congressional reports, senior leadership reports, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Integrate insights from media inquiries, social listening, analytics, and coverage trends to provide leadership with actionable, data-driven intelligence.
  • Prepare leadership with briefing materials that enhance clarity, accuracy, and preparedness for media engagements.
  • Build standard operating procedures, checklists, trackers, and templates that create predictable, repeatable processes for faster responses and reduced rework.
