The Center for New York City Affairs seeks to hire a Communications & Program Coordinator to support the Economic and Fiscal Policy program. The Center for New York City Affairs at The New School is an applied policy research institute that drives innovation in policy. Our research and programming strive for a more just and equitable city and focus on how public policy impacts low-income communities. The Economic and Fiscal Policy program team conducts research and writing on local and state economic and fiscal policies that improve the lives of New York City’s low- and moderate-income communities. The program’s goal is to produce research to support a range of policy interventions – including improving work opportunities and pay standards, strengthening social safety net policies like unemployment insurance, and making infrastructure investments in such areas as universal childcare. Our work combines economic analysis with actionable policy responses to address structural issues undergirding racial and economic disparities. We seek candidates who have a passion for New York City and for communicating about bold, transformative policy ideas and complex issues to diverse audiences – from policymakers and journalists to communities and organizations directly impacted by those policies. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Economic and Fiscal Policy. This position is funded by and contingent upon external fundraising beyond the first year.
