About The Position

Interns will be involved in all facets of communications including researching, drafting, and editing content that raises awareness about sexual exploitation issues. Responsibilities will include creating social media content, infographics, or website content to support the organization's mission in eradicating sexual exploitation and promoting a culture of dignity. This internship offers valuable experience in many areas of communications for a cause-driven organization and engaging in advocacy initiatives to address critical issues related to sexual exploitation.

Responsibilities

  • Performing work on special projects as assigned by Supervisors.
  • Designing, creating, and scheduling social media content
  • Image or video editing
  • Capturing audio and visual content at events, meetings, or press conferences in the office or around D.C.
  • Curating content for the weekly NCOSE e-newsletter and social media sharing
  • Assessing analytics on blogs, emails, and social media and thinking critically about how to improve performance
  • Creating advocacy actions for individuals to contact legislators or corporations
  • Communicating NCOSE’s vision, strategy, and impact to the public.
  • Galvanizes the public to care about and take action on sexual exploitation issues through compelling content.
  • Receiving exposure to aspects of running a nonprofit organization including:
  • digital strategies (including maintaining an online presence and increasing base of support nationwide);
  • grassroots mobilization and fundraising
  • Tracking current developments (including pop culture) using various media and academic resources relating to:
  • harms of pornography;
  • harms of prostitution and other forms of commercial sex;
  • demand for commercial sex and male sex buying behavior;
  • organizations promoting, distributing, and/or profiting from sexual exploitation (pornography, stripping, prostitution, sexual assault, risky sexy behavior); and,
  • sex trafficking of men, women and children.
  • Tasks may shift based on the organization’s current need and opportunities.
