About The Position

David Zwirner New York’s Communications team is seeking a motivated intern to support day-to-day operations. This role offers hands-on experience within an internationally recognized gallery committed to advancing its artists, exhibitions, and publishing arm, David Zwirner Books, within the broader contemporary cultural landscape. As a Communications Intern, you will assist with daily workflows such as updating media reports, assembling press materials, providing administrative support, and helping manage the gallery’s print and digital press archives. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with departments across the gallery, including Sales, Marketing, and Research. This internship provides exposure to the inner workings of an active Communications team and participation in both day-to-day and long-term projects. A core responsibility of this role will include assisting in the completion of a biweekly internal press coverage report circulated to teams across the gallery. The internship program includes a dedicated educational component with targeted sessions designed to build knowledge of the inner workings of a leading contemporary art gallery.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in contemporary art and the broader creative landscape.
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Able to work independently, take initiative, and manage the timing of personal tasks and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong time-management abilities.
  • All candidates must be residents of NY, NJ, or CT.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Mac, Photoshop, Excel, and Google Workspace is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, track, and clip daily media coverage for gallery artists and estates.
  • Support the production of internal and external media reports, including a biweekly internal press coverage report.
  • Assist with creating and updating press materials and assets.
  • Research, expand, and maintain the gallery’s media contact database.
  • Help manage the gallery’s press archive (print and digital) through organizational and research-based projects.
  • Maintain awareness of arts, culture, and media trends relevant to the gallery and its roster.
