About The Position

Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is a private non-profit treatment provider headquartered in New Britain, with seven locations throughout the city and in Waterbury. We partner with clients and the community to promote recovery from mental illness and substance use, treating more than 7,500 adults and children each year. CMHA is looking to hire a part-time, 20 hours per week, Communications Intern. This position will be located at 233 Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Flexible days and hours. Compensation: Undergraduate: $18.00 Graduate: $19.00 The Communications intern will assist the Communication department in increasing public awareness of the agency. The Department oversees social media communication as well as manages relationships with community stakeholders. You will gain exposure to nonprofit event planning, written, graphic, and digital communication, and outreach and fundraising efforts, including database management, donor acknowledgement, and digital donor newsletters.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, Communications, Marketing/PR.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, time management, critical thinking, decision-making, and analytical skills.
Valid CT Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

Understand how to plan, promote, and execute a major nonprofit fundraising event.
Assist with writing, editing and sending quarterly internal and external digital newsletter.
Produce and edit short clips for social media posts.
Track trends and report on metrics to enhance marketing efforts, including website, social media channels, and e-communications.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
