About The Position

Knight Foundation is seeking a Communications Intern to join the foundation for Summer 2026. This paid internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that advances Knight Foundation's mission. In this role, the Communications Intern will support the cross-programmatic team responsible for relaunching the one of the foundation's signature initiatives. The intern will contribute to grantmaking workflows, project management and public-facing communications tied to the initiative. About the Internship Program Knight Foundation internships are for 10 weeks, running from early June through mid-August. Pay: $20.00 per hour Eligibility: Open to local and non-local students with the legal right to work in the United States. Relocation: Interns are responsible for their own travel and housing costs. Designed as a reciprocal learning experience, Knight Foundation internships provide students with real responsibility, professional development and exposure to the field of philanthropy, while enabling teams to move important projects forward. Interns gain practical skills, confidence and professional networks through project work and organization-wide programming. What You'll Do Working closely with a cross-functional team, the intern will support both operational and communications aspects of the initiative. Responsibilities may include: Supporting project management and tracking deliverables during the application review process Using Monday.com to assist with workflow and task management Assisting with grantmaking workflows and internal coordination Supporting planning and execution of the public announcement and finalists' launch Contributing to social media and public-facing content planning, depending on skills and interests Assisting with media and communications efforts tied to the Challenge What You'll Produce By the end of the internship, the intern will have contributed to: Execution of the initiative's public announcement and launch plan Project management and workflow support materials Draft content or planning materials supporting social and media outreach What You'll Learn By the end of the summer, the intern will gain experience in: Challenge-based grantmaking and large-scale philanthropic initiatives Nonprofit project management and cross-team collaboration Public-facing communications and launch planning How high-visibility foundation initiatives are coordinated and executed The intern will have significant exposure to cross-programmatic meetings and planning discussions and will work closely with colleagues across the foundation.
