The Communications & Events Intern will gain real-life experience working in a professional corporate communications environment in alignment with the company's strategic priorities. The role will support the company's internal & external communications as well as our internal events. The candidate will work under the direction of the Communications Manager and will partner with Merchandising, Marketing and Events teams to execute content and manage stakeholder relationships across company functions.

Requirements

• Strong writing skills for a variety of long- and short-form content.
• Some visual/creative experience utilizing branded templates to create supporting visuals, or a willingness to learn.
• Experience with WordPress a plus, or a willingness to learn.
• Ability to multitask and work within a deadline-oriented environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and working collaboratively within a team structure.
• Open to feedback and learning as part of a professional team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in regular planning meetings with stakeholder representatives across the company and manage a master content calendar.
• Contribute to collecting, researching, and writing content for customer newsletters, Associate Connections newsletters, and Inside Scoop emails.
• Assist in planning process for company-wide meetings and conferences including hotel logistics, on-site set ups, tradeshow logistics and additional tasks as needed.
• Develop content across a range of topics as part of the company's social media strategy, including culture, talent, business offerings and other company news.
• Explore other potential social media channels and metrics and gain experience using the Sprout Social platform.
• Understand and demonstrate Essendant's Core Values and Guiding Actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
