About The Position

As Communications Department Director, you’ll lead a dedicated team of speech-language pathologists and a symbol board technician, set departmental goals, and ensure that residents receive exceptional speech, language, and communication services. You’ll oversee clinical quality, mentor clinicians in creating innovative, person-centered programs, and promote the effective use of assistive technology. Through hands-on leadership, collaboration, and creative problem-solving, you’ll inspire your team to deliver services that enrich communication, independence, and overall quality of life for every resident.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist and four years of professional diagnostic and treatment experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience evaluating and treating speech, language, and hearing disorders in adults and/or children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including work with augmentative and alternative communication devices (AAC).
  • Experience supervising professional staff, conducting evaluations, and coordinating integrated treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (medical, nursing, OT, PT, special education).
  • Proven experience managing communication and swallowing disorders and understanding their impact on health and safety.
  • Uses Clinical outcomes, quality metrics, and feedback to guide program improvements.
