About The Position

The Communications and Creative Director is responsible for bringing our creative strategy to reality and telling our story with clarity and excellence. You will lead the team responsible for how we look (Visual Identity/Graphics), how we speak (Messaging/Copy), and how we reach our community (Marketing/Social Media). Your primary goal is to ensure a unified, engaging, and biblically aligned voice across all platforms, from Sunday morning screens and congregational emails to school enrollment campaigns and social media feeds, fostering a culture of welcome that reflects the Mission and Vision of Indian Rocks Church and Christian School.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Preferred Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in marketing or communications.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing a creative team.
  • Proven leadership ability to motivate, lead, and impact members and prospects to work with a multi-ministry church and School staff to meet the mission of Indian Rocks and to oversee and direct the paid and volunteer staff, providing leadership and accountability consistent with church policies and procedures.
  • Technical Skills: Design Fluency: Strong understanding of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). You do not need to be the primary designer, but you must be able to "speak the language" and step in if needed.
  • Project Management: Proficiency with tools like Asana, Monday.com, or Basecamp.
  • Web & Email: Experience with WordPress (or similar CMS) and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or Church Management Software).
  • Must be proficient in and able to: Prioritize, develop, and communicate realistic action plans.
  • Delegate work assignments, oversee timelines and progress.
  • Provide performance feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal direction.
  • Cultivate an ongoing cooperative relationship between church, school, membership and community.
  • Church Membership & Lifestyle Expectations Must give testimony and evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sense the call of God to a serving ministry.
  • Demonstrate a consistent Christian lifestyle as referenced by the Mission, Statement of Faith, and Leadership Guidelines of Indian Rocks.
  • Must be an active member of Indian Rocks Church as defined by regular attendance in worship services, regular attendance/involvement in an Indian Rocks Connection Group or Small Group, and commitment to systematic stewardship and faithful in tithing.
  • Responsible for performing the other duties as assigned and approved by supervising personnel, to include, but not limited to: Lead Pastor, Church Administrator, Head of Schools, or Personnel Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Brand Strategy & Leadership
  • Unified Identity: Develop and maintain a cohesive brand style guide (voice, tone, aesthetic) that distinguishes the Church and School identities while ensuring they feel part of the same family.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of creatives (graphic designers, videographers, social media coordinators, and copywriters).
  • Project Traffic Control: Oversee the project management workflow to ensure all ministry departments (Children, Students, Missions, School Admissions) receive high-quality creative assets on time.
  • Communications & Messaging
  • Congregational Communication: Oversee the strategy and copy for all church-wide emails, newsletters, and app notifications. Ensure "the right message goes to the right people at the right time."
  • Copywriting: Serve as the Lead Editor for the organization. Proofread and refine copy for bulletins, signage, scripts, and website content.
  • Crisis Communication: Act as the Public Information Officer (PIO) during sensitive situations, drafting official statements for leadership regarding weather closures, safety issues, or public relations matters.
  • Marketing & External Reach
  • School Enrollment Marketing: Partner with School Admissions to create high-ROI marketing campaigns (digital ads, mailers, open house materials) that drive enrollment.
  • Digital Advertising: Oversee the budget and strategy for Meta (Facebook/Instagram) ads and Google Ads to reach new families in the county.
  • Community Presence: Design materials for local outreach events to ensure our physical presence in the community matches our digital excellence.
  • Creative Direction (Visuals & Print)
  • Sermon Series Design: Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and Teaching Team to conceptualize and execute visual themes for sermon series (bumpers, slides, stage design concepts).
  • Print & Signage: Oversee the design and production of all physical collateral, including connection cards, baptism guides, campus wayfinding, and event banners.
  • Website Management: Oversee the user experience (UX) and content of the Church and School websites, ensuring they are mobile-responsive and up-to-date.
  • Social Media & Content
  • Content Strategy: Move beyond "announcements" to "engagement." Create a content calendar that offers spiritual value throughout the week (devotionals, testimony videos, school highlights).
  • Analytics: Track and report on key metrics (engagement rate, click-throughs, enrollment leads) to the Executive Leadership Team.
