About The Position

Weatherford have a very exciting opportunity for an experienced Communication Specialist to the join the team in Houston, Texas. The Communication Specialist Culture & Employee Engagement supports the development and delivery of Weatherford’s internal and external communications program with the goal of maintaining the profile and brand of the Company. The position requires managing communication initiatives for internal customers, special projects for Corporate Communications and the Executive Leadership Team, as well as group administration items. In addition, they will help maintain content distribution through the Company’s multiple social media channels and website. The candidate should communicate clearly, be creative, show initiative, have good judgment, and be detail oriented.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of proven experience in communications, preferably with a corporate or agency environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or equivalent.
  • Ability to execute communications plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills, including the ability to proof content before it is published to internal and external channels.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. This includes the ability to work and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Highly self-motivated and goal-driven with a positive attitude. Maintaining flexibility and collaboration are essential. We are a very collaborative team!
  • Familiarity with basic communications strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience or proficiency in Adobe is a plus.
  • Ability to balance research, strategy, planning, and execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a large, multi-national, matrix business-to-business organization.
  • Media relations and/or significant video production experience (writing, directing, etc.) ideal.
  • Experience supporting internal communications. Multi-stage campaign exposure is preferred.

  • Support Corporate Communication Manager in developing strategic communications for internal campaigns and programs for departments such as HSSE, Compliance, Legal, HR, Investor Relations, Quality, Supply and Manufacturing, and IT. This includes crafting messaging and strategic programs to advance their business objectives and generating awareness and engagement across the organization. This position will write, edit, and script content while working with our graphic designer and media producer to create a final product.
  • Support Communications team with ongoing initiatives such as brand adoption, townhalls, leadership engagement, etc.
  • Schedule all Corporate Communications content (emails, app posts, banners, etc.) across multiple internal platforms, including the employee communications app (hosted on FirstUp) and the Company Intranet.
  • Analyze data from employee communications app and provide recommendations to increase readership, adoption, time on page, etc.
  • Be a champion for advancing a strong, corporate culture by integrating values and core messaging into our communications as well as coming up with ideas to connect our global workforce to our mission.
  • Assist with review and update of certain web and intranet content pertaining to Communications.
  • Assist in the coordination of external communication publications, such as the annual report, proxy, and sustainability report.
  • Support media relations activities as needed, including writing press releases.
  • Coordinate interviews, virtual assets to media partners, and external agencies as needed.
  • Maintain media archives and coordinate communications status reports and editorial calendar updates to cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct ongoing peer research as needed to ensure strong, competitive communications channels.
  • Research and collect information for articles, presentations, brochure copy, etc.
  • Assist with the writing needs of the communications group.
  • Assist with Weatherford’s industry and professional association award entry processes.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tradeshow communications plans.
  • Coordinate communication materials and press kits with virtual tradeshow press rooms.
  • Engage with tradeshow media contacts to secure articles in show dailies and coordinate interviews for company spokespersons.
  • Provide post-event media coverage analysis.
  • Support drafting and editing of social media content. Partner with the team to enhance social media strategies and engagement.
  • In cooperations with the Digital Media Specialist, monitor conversations on Weatherford’s social media networks.
  • In cooperations with the Digital Media Specialist, maintain Weatherford’s press room website content and support evolving design and expansion of elements of the website to support program delivery and the overall Weatherford strategy.
  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external.
  • Supervisors and Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports.
  • All employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses.
  • Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure.
  • Employees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function, compliance and business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Employees should engage on a regular basis with their line manager to discuss their personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential
  • Supervisors are expected to actively engage their employees to support talent management through Weatherford’s performance management process, including but not limited to talent assessments, succession planning and regular coaching opportunities.
  • Supervisors should collaborate with Human Resources & Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment and retention of key personnel and to foster an environment that supports the attraction and retention of a high performing talented workforce.
