About The Position

The Community Communication and Development Specialist design, organizes, implements, and evaluates communications, digital media, online community, and fundraising and donor engagement efforts for community development programs serving churches, such as En Conjunto, En Comunidad and Caminando Juntos. This role supports consistent messaging across platforms, develops and executes fundraising initiatives, and uses digital tools to expand visibility, deepen audience engagement, and drive donor support. The Specialist creates compelling materials for these primary audiences: foundations and individual donors, and church program participants—who are church leaders. A strong emphasis on storytelling is essential to highlight the transformative impact of Urban Strategies, partner organizations community, and church programs, share participant and community stories, and connect these narratives to the mission that inspires donor involvement and partnership. The ideal candidate brings strong digital literacy, content creation and storytelling skills, and a proven ability to manage projects, fundraise, foundations, and steward donor relationships with care and effectiveness. They are analytical and data-informed, using evaluation to refine strategies and drive results. Adaptable and solutions-oriented, they thrive in dynamic environments and collaborate well across teams, valuing diverse perspectives and shared goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Fundraising, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • 3 years in fundraising (foundation experience preferred), development, online communications, and digital engagement roles.
  • Proven success in managing fundraising campaigns, and supporting digital initiatives.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, Canva, WordPress, donor management systems, social media management and community).
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Experience analyzing data and using metrics to guide strategy.
  • Mission-driven, collaborative, and adaptable to changing needs.
  • Committed to clear, communication and community impact.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive digital strategy to expand church programs and organizational reach and engagement.
  • Develop and coordinates website content, social media platforms, online community, email campaigns, and digital advertising efforts aligned with company branding
  • Oversee internal communications and online communities with participants, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Assists in the tracking and analyzing of digital performance metrics to inform future strategies and improve impact.
  • Assist in creating and sharing content for newsletters, reports, and digital storytelling initiatives using graphics, photos, and short videos.
  • Support coordination and content creation for event-related communications such as invitations, announcements, and follow-up messages.
  • Coordinate storytelling efforts by collecting program and participant stories for digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to maintain brand consistency across all materials.
  • Review and edit program annual reports to support messaging consistency, clarity, and alignment with organizational messages and values.
  • Develop and implement a dissemination strategy to effectively share fundraising campaigns and donor communications with foundations and individual donors across multiple channels.
  • Manage fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation efforts, and stewardship strategies.
  • Design and coordinate donor materials such as appeal letters, campaign collateral, and donor recognition pieces.
  • Maintain donor communication lists, track donor engagement, and prepare donor impact reports.
  • Manage timelines and ensure all fundraising initiatives are executed effectively and on schedule.
  • Create and edit all communication and fundraising materials for clarity, accuracy, and branding.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships and reach with philanthropic foundations whose missions and funding priorities align with the organization’s programs and the populations served.
