The Commodity Sourcing Manager role requires a diverse set of skills and is responsible for purchasing a wide array of non-correlated commodities. The primary function of this role is to ensure raw material purchases are right sized and competitively costed to the current market. You will be responsible for guiding the business’s strategic supply chain and advising sales on market dynamics to better inform pricing decisions. This role will work closely with operations, transportation, sales and risk management.

Requirements

  • Excellent excel capabilities.
  • Experience designing and leveraging excel modes to communicate financial information and streamline workflows.
  • 2+ years of prior purchasing experience required
  • Experience importing commodities either directly or through strategic partnerships.
  • Experience with bulk logistics - ships, rail, and trucks.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of Material Requirements Planning
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Oral and written with internal and external business partners
  • Project management and multi-tasking ability

Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly purchasing of fats, oils, and fatty acids to support production needs
  • Coordinate purchasing schedules and communicate with suppliers and internal teams
  • Monitor market conditions to support optimal pricing decisions
  • Manage weekly procurement of animal and vegetable protein for animal feed
  • Source synthetic amino acids and specialty chemicals, ensuring cost, quality, and supply continuity
  • Leverage market and supply chain insights to support risk management and sales teams
  • Identify and help mitigate cost and supply risks related to ingredient markets
  • Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement and operational efficiency
