The Commodity Buyer, Purchased Services will lead and manage the total cost, relationship, commodity, supplier strategies, and performance across the organization. The Purchased Services category includes managed services, consulting services, and other professional services. Serves as the subject matter expert in the categories’ service, pricing, performance models and metrics, execution of RFPs, negotiation, and formation of agreements, knowledgeable of industry trends, and market competition. The Commodity Buyer works in tandem with manufacturing, consumer operations, distribution, engineering, product management, human resources, communications, and legal in executing strategies that result in increased value to the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant experience within sourcing/procurement commodity management or in a related role involving negotiating, identifying cost reduction opportunities, selecting suppliers and/or implementing contracts, required
  • Proficient in data analytics and Microsoft Excel
  • Professional oral/written communication
  • Demonstrated team player
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues, to initiate actions, and to make effective decisions.
  • Strong project management, facilitation leadership and execution skills.
  • Ability/Willingness to travel up to 20% domestic and/or international

  • SCDP graduate or 4th rotation SCDP
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change with team members, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven problem solving and collaborative skills to develop and implement business strategies cross-functionally and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and execute Sourcing strategies for Purchased Services spend through collaboratively defined category business plans.
  • Manage the relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders ensuring alignment on deliverables and performance of supplier execution.
  • Effectively interface with internal functions and preferred suppliers to drive cost out, exceed budgets, and increase purchased value for the company.
  • Utilize RFQ tools & systems to manage supplier negotiations and data, to identify and drive project execution within given Commodities.
  • Lead strategic negotiations and review all agreements prior to execution.
  • Lead Strategic Business Reviews with Executive Level audience.
  • Introduce supplier innovation whenever possible to improve GE Appliances’ costs and features.
