About The Position

The Site Safety Manager is responsible for managing and enforcing all safety programs for a single, large-scale commercial roofing project from start to finish. This role is 100% dedicated to one project at a time and requires a full-time, on-site presence for the entire project duration, as required by contract. Working closely with the Regional Safety Manager, Project Manager, Superintendent, and client safety representatives, the Site Safety Manager ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, client-specific safety requirements, and Nations Roof safety policies while supporting safe, efficient project execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial roofing
  • Experience supporting large-scale projects such as data centers, distribution centers, or industrial facilities
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
  • Advanced understanding of commercial roofing operations and fall protection systems
  • Experience with crane operations, rigging, material handling, and heavy equipment safety
  • Proven ability to conduct effective safety training and lead field-level safety meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in safety documentation, inspections, and reporting
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification – Required

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site safety authority for the assigned project throughout its full duration
  • Enforce company, client, and regulatory safety standards at all times
  • Maintain a visible, proactive presence in the field during all active work operations
  • Immediately stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed
  • Implement and manage the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP)
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of roofing operations, equipment, access points, and fall protection systems
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with fall protection, crane operations, hot work, and confined space requirements
  • Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and follow through to closure
  • Conduct site-specific safety orientations for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors
  • Lead daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and pre-task planning meetings
  • Clearly communicate safety expectations to field crews, supervisors, and subcontractors
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and engagement
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, local/state regulations, and client-specific safety programs
  • Maintain accurate and complete safety records including training logs, inspections, incident reports, and corrective actions
  • Prepare for and participate in client audits, inspections, and safety meetings
  • Support incident investigations and reporting as required
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and client safety teams
  • Provide regular safety performance updates to company leadership
  • Support project leadership in planning safe work activities
  • Perform other duties as required to support site safety, regulatory compliance, and successful project execution
