About The Position

At Kalos Services, our Commercial Refrigeration team is known for delivering high-quality installations for major retailers and commercial clients throughout Central Florida. We specialize in complex supermarket and commercial refrigeration systems and take pride in doing the job right—from installation through final commissioning. We are seeking an Experienced Commercial Refrigeration Installation / Start-Up Technician who excels at bringing systems online, validating performance, and ensuring installations are fully operational and ready for long-term reliability. This is a field-based, hands-on role for a detail-oriented refrigeration professional who enjoys working independently, troubleshooting complex systems, and owning the final phase of project delivery. You will play a critical role in powering up, testing, programming, and commissioning commercial refrigeration systems prior to turnover.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial refrigeration installation, service, or start-up
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Rack refrigeration systems
  • Condensers, evaporators, and controls
  • Ability to properly troubleshoot and tune:
  • Superheat and subcooling
  • Airflow
  • Refrigerant charge
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • EPA 608 Certification (required)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel regionally to job sites (per diem provided when applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Power up and commission new commercial refrigeration systems, including:
  • Supermarket rack systems
  • Walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Reach-in and display cases
  • Program setpoints and verify functionality of major control systems such as:
  • Emerson
  • CPC
  • Danfoss (and similar platforms)
  • Perform pressure testing, leak detection, electrical verification, and refrigerant charge adjustments
  • Diagnose and resolve start-up issues related to electrical, piping, mechanical, or controls systems
  • Verify systems meet manufacturer specifications, job requirements, and performance standards prior to turnover
  • Document commissioning data, start-up conditions, deficiencies, and punch-list items
  • Coordinate closely with installation crews, controls technicians, and project managers
  • Support a smooth handoff to service and maintenance teams
