About The Position

Responsible analyzing financial and market data required for underwriting commercial real estate loans, completing credit memos, communicating with appropriate coworkers; providing periodic reports; complying with operating policies and procedures established for this position. Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in lending or finance functional area
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Sound financial, analytical, and mathematical skills
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, etc.)
  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Performs credit analysis of prospects and customers assessing company's / project's history, industry trends, cash flow, leverage and collateral values
  • Compiles, evaluates, and analyzes a broad range of borrowers, both businesses and individuals, within the commercial loan portfolio and works with lenders to maintain and expand portfolios
  • Prepares and maintains financial statement worksheets and complete spreads in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices
  • Completes full loan approval memo based on current Bank policy. Accurately states loan structure, conditions and reporting requirements based upon officer input. Researches legal entity for formation documents, existing debt and liens, industry analysis and economic outlook. Completes summary background and ownership/management structure
  • Reviews and analyzes project costs and projected cash flow, on either a sales or a rental scenario
  • Inputs and calculates global cash flow and debt service ability on spreadsheets. Prepares schedules for complete personal and/or business income and debt service from financials and credit reports. Analyzes and interprets ratios, summarize for Loan Memo attachments
  • Accompany lenders on prospect and customer calls, when appropriate, to obtain answers to credit related questions, as a result of his/her analysis
  • Monitors loan portfolio and assist in reporting of various loan quality measurement including:, monitoring interest reserves, preparing reports, and ongoing review of expiring loan extensions
  • Completes specialized duties unique to assigned commercial business, such as assisting in portfolio monitoring and review of existing facilities
  • Continuous development of account and credit analysis skills through coursework and RMA
  • Financial Accounting self-study courses. Other coursework involving accounting, finance, and relevant case studies developed in-house at Meridian will be made available
  • Performs site inspections on active construction sites and routine inspections
  • Ensures compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with Meridian or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues. Notifies appropriate personnel of unique situations
  • Maintains Meridian internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
