About The Position

The Commercial Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of commercial projects. They communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects follow their timelines and budgets. Responsibilities include coordinating with operations and other internal teams; managing subcontractors/contracts and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality delivery; preparing progress reports and forecasting; managing customer escalations, and holding weekly meetings with internal teams as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project management in construction (preferably solar).
  • Proficient in Google Suite/Google Workspace (Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Forms, Docs, Gmail) or related software (preferred).
  • Proficient using CRM software, such as Salesforce and NetSuite.
  • Knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, battery storage, and permitting (preferred).
  • Understanding of electrical codes and building standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ability to clearly communicate through multiple channels with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer (frequent).
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times (infrequent).
  • Ability to type at least 60 words per minute (frequent).
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with commercial project operations and leadership regarding but not limited to daily goals, tasks tasks, and crew accountability.
  • Effectively coordinate with design/estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, and permitting teams.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure on-time and quality project delivery.
  • Manage subcontractor contracts, change orders and issue resolutions that arise during their work on site.
  • Utilize Salesforce, Smartsheets and NetSuite and other relevant programs to monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including permitting and interconnection.
  • Maintain regular communication with external stakeholders, including clients, utility representatives, and local authorities.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, forecasts, and documentation for project milestones with our internal teams and external clients.
  • Monitor and report preparation of invoices and payments.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the design and estimating team to review job statuses and project timelines.
  • Resolve customer issues and escalate unresolvable issues to the Director of Commercial Operations.
  • Maintain and manage multiple project schedules, costs (including but not limited to labor and material), and keep projects on track.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

Benefits

  • This is a full-time exempt salaried (not overtime eligible) position with an expected base annual salary range $90,000 - $115,000 (Depending on Qualifications & Experience).
  • Hybrid: This position is eligible to work a combination of in-office work at AES headquarters (St. Paul, MN) and remote/work from home eligibility: (Note: this is subject to change by management based on company and business needs, may or may not be eligible until 90+ days of employment/training period completion, will be determined and agreed on by management and employee, and contingent upon employees being in good standing).
  • PTO accrual per hour will be .03847, up to 80 hours annually (120 hours annually after year 1).
