About The Position

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day operational supervision and oversight of the Commercial Loan Processing and Closing Team. The role supports the execution of commercial and business loan transactions in accordance with approved credit terms, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. This position applies strong commercial lending knowledge to support transaction flow, assist with escalations, support team performance, and ensure accurate, compliant, and timely loan closings while delivering a high-quality internal and external experience. In addition to operational oversight responsibilities, this role will function as a working supervisor and will perform loan processing and closing duties as needed to support pipeline volume and team capacity.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading teams in a commercial lending operations environment.
  • Proven experience overseeing commercial loan processing and closing activities, including interpretation of credit approvals and escalation of complex transactions.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial loan structures, collateral types, and due diligence requirements, particularly for real estate secured lending.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, manage escalations, and lead teams in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Seven to ten (7–10) years of experience closing commercial loans or three plus (3+) years supporting a volume of 13–18 commercial loan closings per month.
  • Experience working with commercial loan compliance and documentation requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending within a financial institution environment, including loan documentation, entity and formation documents, credit approvals, and secured lending structures. Demonstrated ability to understand various collateral types and lien perfection requirements, with an emphasis on risk management and member impact.
  • Working knowledge of applicable banking regulations, compliance requirements, and legal guidelines relevant to commercial lending.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, service-driven environment while maintaining quality and sound judgment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams, support relationship-based lending, and engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with commercial loan systems and workflows, including Sageworks and LaserPro, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and core processing systems such as JHA.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day operational supervision for the Commercial and Business Loan Processing and Closing team.
  • Assists overseeing commercial and business loan transactions to support timely progression, closing readiness, and alignment with approved structures.
  • Serves as an escalation point for transactional issues, capacity constraints, and execution challenges, applying sound judgment to support timely resolution.
  • Coordinates pipeline flow and workload balance to help ensure high-volume or high-complexity periods meet deadlines while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Prepares for and hosts weekly pipeline call, providing updates on deal status, key risks, and next steps.
  • Applies working knowledge across commercial and business product types to support execution and due diligence expectations.
  • Reviews and interprets credit approvals to help ensure requirements and post-closing items are clearly understood and completed by the team.
  • Provides oversight and support of third-party due diligence and closing readiness, including coordination related to title, insurance, appraisals, flood, and related requirements.
  • Partners with lenders, credit, legal, portfolio management, servicing, and internal teams to support consistent execution and resolve deal-related issues.
  • Monitors team performance, quality trends, and service level expectations, addressing gaps through coaching, performance review, and process refinement.
  • Responsible for meeting individual performance expectations and scorecard metrics associated with the role.
  • Assists with maintaining procedures, workflows, and training materials to support consistency and operational effectiveness.
  • Provides employee-related supervisory responsibilities, including coaching, performance management, and employee development.
  • Participates in departmental initiatives and operational improvement efforts.
  • Promotes a high quality internal and external experience aligned with the Credit Union’s values.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
