About The Position

Accountable for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the commercial loan operations team. This position will work closely with the Commercial Operations Manager to ensure lending steps flow effectively and efficiently through the entire lending process and to develop a high performing team. This position aids efforts to meet established department goals, member satisfaction, and minimize operational losses. This position aids efforts to meet the strategic goals of the credit union, including providing outstanding service to internal and external members as defined by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union; Act with Integrity, Drive Progress, Build & Strengthen Relationships and Keep People at the Core.

Requirements

  • Five years to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school equivalent to approximately 64 credit hours.
  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting commercial loans.
  • Knowledge of commercial loan policies, procedures, products, and services.
  • Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Windows and Excel.

  • Legal knowledge of commercial loan documentation and retention is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including; monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for promotion, disciplinary action and termination, as appropriate.
  • Accountable for loan operations, including but not limited to gathering loan documents, clearing conditions required for loan closing, preparing loan closing documentation, booking, funding, loan maintenance, corrections adjustments, tracking titles and insurance.
  • Work with internal and external auditors on audits and other reviews, including preparing for audits/examinations and following through on audit replies or action items.
  • Partners with Advia's Training Department to develop new training materials and keep training materials current and relevant.
  • Ensure adequate processes, procedures, and workflows are in place to meet business and regulatory requirements. Identifies, develops, and recommends revision of internal standards and new programs to improve efficiency. Ensures quantifiable measurements are in place to evaluate overall production levels. Provides staff with clear concise written guidelines and minimizes losses through effective internal controls.
  • Aids team members to collaborate and actively solve problems and promote continued process improvement. Works to continuously drive progress and add financial value for our members.
  • Provide operational solutions to business challenges and serve as operational subject matter expert.
  • Manage the daily operations of the department and ensure that procedures and practices are in alignment with credit union expectations. Work with third party vendors to ensure programs are running smoothly and maximize member satisfaction and credit union protection.
  • Actively supports department goals with minimal supervision; updates Commercial Operations Manager on all major projects, employee issues and goal progress.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.
