The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Commercial Lines Producer to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Cranston, RI. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is a hybrid position.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in Commercial Lines Property & Casualty insurance
  • Active P&C insurance license (or ability to obtain promptly)
  • Demonstrated success or early traction in new business development
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • High level of organization, accountability, and initiative

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an independent agency or brokerage environment preferred
  • Exposure to middle-market commercial accounts preferred
  • Familiarity with agency management systems and CRM tools preferred
  • Industry designations in progress (e.g., CIC, CRM, ARM) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, develop, and close new commercial P&C opportunities across target industries
  • Generate a minimum of $80,000+ in new business commissions annually, with expectations for consistent year-over-year growth
  • Build a sustainable pipeline through networking, referrals, centers of influence, and internal lead opportunities
  • Partner with internal marketing, service, and carrier teams to deliver competitive and well-structured solutions
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by assessing exposures and recommending appropriate coverage structures
  • Present and explain policy terms, conditions, exclusions, and pricing in a clear and professional manner
  • Support renewal strategy, account rounding, and coverage enhancements to drive retention and revenue growth
  • Maintain strong client relationships resulting in high retention and cross-sell opportunities
  • Grow a personal book of business to $400,000+ in annual commissions within 3–5 years
  • Demonstrate disciplined account management, renewal planning, and service coordination
  • Leverage agency systems and processes to manage activity, documentation, and compliance
  • Develop working relationships with carrier underwriters and wholesalers
  • Collaborate closely with account managers and service staff to ensure seamless client delivery
  • Stay current on market trends, coverage developments, and regulatory requirements
