About The Position

The Assistant Marketing Specialist will assist the Marketing staff, supporting the commercial agents with the placement of both new and renewal business and coverages of all lines of business.

Requirements

  • 2-4 Years of previous commercial property and casualty experience preferred
  • Property and Casualty Broker/Agent License, or the ability to quickly obtain
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
  • Strong computer skills, with a focus on the Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.), with the ability to effectively utilize the Agency’s management systems
  • Sound knowledge of rating procedures, coverage, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned client and prospect lists.
  • Full knowledge of insurance markets is essential.
  • Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
  • Ability to promote and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
  • Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
  • All requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate physical or mental impairment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or other related field, preferred
  • CISR or other related insurance designations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Marketing staff with the negotiation of premiums and terms for all levels of all lines of coverage
  • Work directly with the Marketing staff who will be performing all necessary rating sufficient for policy quotation and/or issuance on the carrier website or rating programs, and calculating premium when the company-rating program is available
  • Assist with performing comprehensive coverage comparisons between quote terms and conditions, and past and current premiums, including exposure changes
  • In conjunction with the Marketing staff, meet with company representative(s) to update carrier appetite, underwriting guidelines, etc.
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings, as requested
  • In conjunction with the Marketing Staff, coordinate and facilitate renewal meetings with agents and CSR to determine marketing strategy for policy expirations
  • Obtain the required information throughout the marketing process, needed to secure quotes and terms
  • Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development.
  • Troubleshoot carrier and coverage matters in a professional manner with the most reasonable outcome for all parties concerned.
