About The Position

The Commercial Lending Manager will be accountable for providing leadership to the Commercial Lenders and Treasury Management Officers, developing the team to optimal performance. In addition, the Commercial Lending Manager will function as a lender, developing new and existing business relationships with the overall goal of increasing member relationships and profitability while maintaining and improving asset quality for the credit union. This position supports efforts to meet the strategic goals of the credit union, including providing outstanding service to internal and external members by living and demonstrating the core values of the credit union: Act with Integrity, Drive Progress, Build & Strengthen Relationships, and Keep People at the Core. Requirements

  • 10 years to 15 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • A college degree.
  • Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions.
  • The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of professional diplomacy, trust and relationship.
  • Obtaining cooperation and agreement (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and an expert level of interpersonal and written communication skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 4-6 hours per day.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others.
  • Must be able to read and carry out various complicated written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
  • Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.

Responsibilities

  • Manages direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including; monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules.
  • Appraise performance and provide recommendations for promotion, disciplinary action and termination, as appropriate.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, training and resources needed to achieve goals.
  • Coordinates internal and external resources to ensure efficiency and achievement of results; establish and drive goals based on assessments and Advia's strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and expands commercial client base by calling on current members to expand existing relationships and calling on prospects to identify opportunities for new relationships.
  • Collects and analyzes financial information, initiates loan application requests and coordinates processing and closing of loans.
  • Cross-sells products and services to meet member needs and expand relationships while also facilitating through the credit process.
  • Develops centers of influence and actively participates in community events to generate awareness and business leads.
  • Maintains tracking of opportunities, successes, and pipelines.
  • Assists members with questions and concerns and resolve member issues that arise.
  • Manages existing loan portfolio to required standards, maintains a high-quality asset base, including timely renewals of loans, monitors payments and collections, and updates financial information as required.
  • Understands and executes to accomplish Advia's strategic goals; supports and assists in implementation of strategies for all business lines.
  • Interprets short and long-term effects of sales strategies on company performance.
  • Collaborates with management team to develop strategies to meet goals to increase market share, maintain member satisfaction, and improve overall performance.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Additionally, all employees must follow policies and procedures to minimize risk by exercising judgment, raising questions to management, and adhering to policy guidelines.
