About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Insurance Department Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee and manage the commercial insurance department, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the team. This role requires a hands-on approach to leadership and a strong understanding of commercial insurance products and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, or related field; advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus
  • An active P&C (Property & Casualty) license is required
  • Proven experience in commercial insurance, including underwriting, pricing, and risk management
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, regulations, and market dynamics
  • Previous Workers' Compensation experience is required
  • Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to drive innovation and change within the department

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of commercial insurance professionals, providing guidance, support, and training as needed
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies and goals to drive business growth and client satisfaction
  • Oversee a team of account managers in the Workers' Compensation renewal department
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, brokers, and insurance carriers to promote business development and retention
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform decision-making and strategy development
  • Collaborate with other department managers and senior leadership to ensure seamless integration and alignment of business objectives
  • Monitor department performance and KPIs, identifying and addressing areas for improvement and development
