About The Position

This unique role blends HVAC and Controls knowledge, focusing on starting and commissioning new systems, diagnosing, and repairing environmental-control systems in diverse commercial settings. The technician will utilize expertise in electronics, direct digital control, airflow, refrigeration theory, and control and mechanical techniques. Responsibilities include serving as the direct customer contact, servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, and ensuring customer satisfaction through identification, diagnosis, and repair at customer locations. The role requires coordination with team leaders and customers to understand requirements for on-site installations and repairs, including forecasting issues, gathering materials, and synchronizing work. Technicians must stay current on Trane products related to DDC systems, enforce safety standards, and maintain accountability for company assets. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and occasional overnight stays is required.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Typically at least 3-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
  • Ability to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt
  • Ability to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
  • Ability to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
  • Ability to squat and touch the floor with both hands
  • Ability to reach your hands over your head
  • Ability to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours
  • Ability to safely use a ladder with a 375 lb. total weight limit, while wearing equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to maneuver access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal
  • Ability to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet +

Nice To Haves

  • Technical School or formal training
  • Previous experience with DDC controls system
  • EPA preferred

  • Keeping current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems
  • Continually enforcing safety to the highest standards
  • Maintaining security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions
  • Maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays
