About The Position

A Service Controls HVAC Technician is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing building automation and HVAC control systems that regulate heating, cooling, ventilation, and energy management. This role supports commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities to ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in alignment with customer expectations. Requirements

  • Ability for customer relationship building, maintaining and growth
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, and control theory.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, control schematics, and engineering documents.
  • Proficiency with HVAC control software, networking basics, and system diagnostics.
  • Troubleshooting skills for both electrical and mechanical components.
  • Experience with low-voltage wiring and proper installation practices.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with strong time-management skills.
  • Technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in HVAC, controls, electronics, or mechanical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial HVAC controls (e.g., Trane controls, BACnet, Modbus, Niagara or other BAS platforms) is typically preferred.
  • EPA refrigerant certification may be required depending on work scope.

Responsibilities

  • Service, configure, program, and commission HVAC control systems, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication networks.
  • Diagnose and repair issues in control systems, HVAC equipment, and related components.
  • Perform system checks, calibrations, and functional testing to verify proper operation.
  • Use software tools to program, adjust, or optimize building automation sequences.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, equipment manuals, and system documentation.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and identify opportunities for system improvements or energy savings.
  • Provide technical support to customers and explain findings, recommendations, and needed repairs.
  • Collaborate with HVAC service teams, project managers, and engineering personnel on system integrations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
