Avery Dennison is seeking a strategic and technically savvy Commercial / FP&A Manager to join our Performance Tapes North America (PTNA) business. This pivotal role serves as the primary financial business partner to the Sales and Marketing commercial organization, executing critical FP&A activities that drive strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will do more than report on the past; they will spearhead the digital evolution of our financial reporting by leveraging Looker Studio to deliver real-time, actionable analytics. You will take the lead in analyzing variances, optimizing reporting tools, ensuring strong controllership, and managing a team to support continuous commercial growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive finance/FP&A experience.
  • 2+ years in a managerial or equivalent role demonstrating proven leadership and team development abilities.
  • Exceptional business acumen and critical thinking skills for effective, data-driven problem-solving.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong technical command of Google Suite, Excel, and ERP/BI systems (MfgPro, Oracle, Cognos).
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and the ability to clearly synthesize complex datasets into comprehensive, actionable analyses.
  • High degree of detail orientation and accuracy, combined with strong follow-up skills, proactive initiative, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders while acting as a supportive, collaborative team member.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience building out dashboards in Looker Studio is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead Digital Reporting: Drive the digital transformation of our financial reporting ecosystem by developing, optimizing, and maintaining automated dashboards and Business Intelligence (BI) tools, with a heavy emphasis on Looker Studio.
  • Commercial Strategy & Support: Serve as a key thought partner to the Sales and Marketing leadership teams. Co-develop sales plans that drive optimal performance and lead the sales commission process.
  • Deliver Actionable Insights: Analyze topline performance, open order status, and order intake trends to provide commercial and leadership teams with leading indicators for business performance and accurate sales forecasting.
  • Profitability Management: Manage and maintain PTNA profitability tools, including the creation and uploading of the monthly customer/spec profitability tool into Cognos.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy and seamless integration across core systems, including the ERP (MfgPro), Financials (Oracle) and BI tools (Cognos, Looker Studio).
  • Forecasting & Planning: Lead and execute comprehensive forecasting processes—including Annual Operating Plans (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and monthly/mid-month updates—focused on Sales to Thruput, but capturing full P&L inputs.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Ensure timely, accurate monthly reporting for all Commercial and FP&A activities while maintaining strict SOX compliance and robust internal controls.
  • Working Capital Optimization: Collaborate with the Finance Director to forecast and implement strategic improvements in working capital performance, specifically targeting Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P).
  • Metric Tracking & Presentation: Coordinate reporting on key balance sheet metrics (working capital, free cash flow) and contribute heavily to the monthly business review presentations by developing associated bridges and financial schedules.
  • Direct Management: Lead, manage, and develop one Sr. Commercial / FP&A Analyst.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to summer interns.
  • Operational Excellence: Effectively leverage the team’s bandwidth to optimize business support and maximize the overall efficiency of the finance function.
