About The Position

Overview Flextrades is hiring highly skilled and safety-conscious Test Technician to perform end-of-line testing (EOL) on complex thermal management units. This role involves a combination of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-based testing operations in both indoor and outdoor environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial HVAC systems, electrical troubleshooting, and refrigerant handling. EPA 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling is required. Project Specs: 6 Month Duration onsite in MO Payrate: $42/hr Per diem: $45/day Guaranteed 50-hour workweek Hotel accommodations and travel pay included Must pass a background check and drug test Must have EPA 608 Universal Certification

Requirements

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling
  • Experience with industrial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, fans, and pumps.
  • Strong understanding of 3-phase power, VFDs, and high-voltage safety.
  • Ability to work from non-sequential test reports and tribal knowledge—must take notes and learn from verbal instruction.
  • Comfortable working indoors, outdoors, and at heights.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including extended hours to complete test cycles.
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel for data entry and test documentation.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment safely; team lift or mechanical assist required for items over 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform glycol, nitrogen, and helium testing on brazed and assembled piping.
  • Conduct hi-pot (dielectric) testing to verify insulation integrity.
  • Test wiring on all 28 fans per unit to ensure proper electrical connections.
  • Perform evacuation pump testing and install pumps on units.
  • Charge units with R-1234ze refrigerant using weight, current, and pressure metrics.
  • Test water pipes by cycling hot and chilled water to verify chiller performance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults (e.g., mis wired components, faulty terminations).
  • Push varying amperage to condenser fans to verify function and direction.
  • Conduct boiler, chiller, and filter dryer testing at specific PSIs.
  • Read and interpret fault codes from VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
