About The Position

At PNC, the Commercial Credit Expert role is within the Independent Risk Management organization, supporting the Central Credit Products Group (CCPG). This position requires individuals to have 8+ years of commercial credit experience, with a portion of that time spent in a Credit Officer capacity. Key expectations include interpreting PNC’s Credit Policies and Procedures, particularly those related to Risk Rating, and possessing knowledge of the Commercial line of business. Subject matter expertise in various areas of commercial bank lending, including a comprehensive understanding of the credit process, is preferred. PNC operates as an in-office company, promoting a supportive culture. The role involves analyzing activities within the applicable business segment, such as the credit approval process, policy and procedural compliance, portfolio risk management, credit monitoring, and reporting. The expert will analyze the extension of credit, including overdrafts, for complex clients within defined approval authorities and hold final approval authority on an obligor's risk rating. Responsibilities also include analyzing credit facility structure and underwriting processes in line with credit policies, supporting scorecard validation and maintenance, and understanding portfolio issues and trends to manage credit portfolios effectively. The role requires analyzing output for decision-making and assessing risk in assigned credit portfolios by reviewing reports and trends, while also staying informed on economic, regulatory, and other trends affecting borrowers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of commercial credit experience
  • Working in a Credit Officer capacity for a portion of that experience
  • Ability to interpret PNC’s Credit Policies and Procedures, including those pertaining to Risk Rating
  • Knowledge of the Commercial line of business
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes activities associated with applicable business segment, including the credit approval process, policy and procedural compliance and portfolio risk management, credit monitoring, and reporting.
  • Analyzes the extension of credit, including overdrafts, for clients of high complexity within prescribed approval authorities.
  • Has final approval authority on an obligor's risk rating.

  • Maintains knowledge of economic, regulatory and other trends affecting borrowers and helps incorporate this information into the assessment of the borrowers.
