We’re hiring a Commercial Counsel to help shape and scale the legal foundation of EvenUp as we continue our rapid growth. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role will sit on the revenue side of the business, supporting partnerships and complex commercial deals, while also operating as a true legal generalist across a range of strategic initiatives. You’ll work closely with the founders in a highly founder-led organization and play a key role in how the legal function evolves alongside the company. This is a rare, career-inflection-point opportunity that departs meaningfully from a traditional big law or big tech role, with closer proximity to founders and company-defining work. This is a remote role that can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. What we look for: The best candidates will have deep experience across commercial contracting and revenue-facing work, especially strategic marketing and technology partnerships, and will be able to run point on complex, fast-moving deals end to end, with some exposure to M&A, securities, and general corporate work. The best of the best will also be able to contribute outside of their core areas of expertise. Critically, this is a founder-led environment where speed matters: successful candidates must be eager to work directly with founders, communicate crisply, and make risk-calibrated decisions quickly while knowing when to escalate—concocting imperfect solutions to abstract problems on the fly with purpose and zeal.

Requirements

  • J.D. from a top school and bar member in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3-7 years experience, likely in Big Law and ideally with in-house experience
  • A client portfolio with meaningful overlaps to components of EvenUp’s business (e.g., enterprise software, AI, health records, privileged records, insurance, legal tech, etc.)
  • Intrinsic motivation to perform at a high level and to win.
