Our commercial construction team is focused on growth and further developing a diverse portfolio in the commercial sector- including hospitality, multi-family, historic preservation, manufacturing, office, and recreational spaces- and the work of the site superintendent is a key component in our growth trajectory. The Superintendent is the primary point of contact between the construction site and project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. They provide regular updates on project progress, safety concerns, quality of work, etc. This role consists of problem-solving on-site in matters of labor, materials, security, weather, or equipment, and finding effective solutions. As a Superintendent, you will be expected to:

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a Construction Superintendent, or relevant experience that demonstrates a deep understanding of commercial construction methods and practices
  • Experience with projects $1M-$10M
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the A/E/C industry
  • OSHA 10 certification required, OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, plans, and specifications to provide information to project/team members
  • Ability to anticipate construction process issues and problems to keep the overall schedule of the project on track
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and supervise the work of others
  • Knowledge of ProCore or similar Construction Management Software
  • In-depth knowledge of construction drawings including MEP, civil, and structural
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • An ability to work in indoor/outdoor environments subject to changing conditions and at times in inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to heights and loud noises
  • An ability and desire to work as part of a team; thrives in a collaborative environment and adjusts to changes in priorities and work plans while supervising, directing, and managing all subcontractors, suppliers, and other relationships
  • Stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Climb and work from stairs and ladders
  • Independently push, pull, carry, and lift up to 80 lbs
  • Safely work with sharp tools and power equipment
  • Bend, stoop, and work around wood dust and fumes
  • Work in indoor/outdoor environments, subject to changing conditions, and at times in inclement weather conditions
  • May be exposed to heights and loud noises

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite supervision while trades are present to ensure the project is built to plans and specifications, runs smoothly, stays on schedule, maintains safe work practices, and meets quality standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining the schedule, update the three-week look ahead each week, and notify the project team of changes to the projected schedule. Promote efficient use of resources by planning, coordinating, and scheduling job site activities.
  • Assist the Project Manager with cost management, ensuring that the project stays within budget. Oversee material procurement, equipment usage, and inventory.
  • Manage the site workforce including subcontractors, laborers, and other site personnel. Ensure proper communication and collaboration among all team members.
  • Document daily progress on site including daily reports of manpower and progress on site, as well as photos.
  • Maintain job site safety for workers and the public on site. Document and indicate any known safety deficiency to the responsible subcontractor and facilitate subsequent correction. Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to create and promote a culture of safety on the job site.
  • Monitor the work to ensure it meets the project's specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Address any issues that arise with construction quality.
  • Ensure the job site is secure when work is not underway.
  • Work with subcontractors to schedule and execute all required inspections and municipal sign-offs. Ensure all work complies with local building codes, environmental regulations, and company policies. Keep thorough documentation of work, inspections, and permits.
  • Provide quality control to ensure that the work meets or exceeds Woodhull quality standards.
