The Credit Analyst is the first position in Hickory Point Bank & Trust's (the "Bank") Commercial Banking Officer Development Program, which is a comprehensive multi-year experience where new bankers will learn and apply financial statement analysis, credit underwriting, industry research, loan administration, relationship development, project management, and leadership skills to position them for a successful and rewarding career in commercial banking. As a Credit Analyst, the candidate will learn skills necessary to transition into the Commercial Banking Associate (“CBA”) position, which handles commercial banking relationships without designated lending authority. The CBA works closely with more experienced lenders to serve customers and to develop his or her knowledge of loan documentation and credit administration. The CBA also works with Cash Management Officers and personnel from other divisions to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the products and services offered by the bank. Essential Job Duties: The Credit Analyst is expected to spread financial statements; prepare Extended Ratio, Cash Flow, and Collateral Analyses; prepare the quarterly M-Track monitoring reports; prepare credit approval documents; and assist with special projects and research as assigned. After approximately 1-2 years, the Credit Analyst would be expected to understand how to appropriately assess and structure loan requests, have a comprehensive knowledge of the bank’s commercial loan and related policies, and would be able to transition to a CBA and will be responsible for carrying out the following duties, with oversight from more experienced bankers: Managing and administering a portfolio of loans; also serving as a central point of contact for lending customers’ cash management and other banking needs Handling loan requests, taking loan applications and interfacing with the customer/applicant to facilitate a complete loan application Performing (with the assistance of the Credit Department, as appropriate) preliminary analyses of loan requests and recommending an appropriate response (i.e. approval, decline, counter-proposal, etc.) for bank management’s consideration; discussing the credit decision with the applicant/customer Developing new business by calling on businesses, accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence in the community Maintaining excellent credit quality through careful monitoring of existing loans, tracking receipt of timely financial information, and verifying compliance with financial covenants; monitoring loan grades based on customer financial performance as well as industry and other considerations Participating actively in community organizations and being visible at community events Assisting other bankers with loan closings, loan administration, and special projects as needed The Commercial Development Analyst would be expected to conduct all duties in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Students currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree, with a business major (economics, finance, or accounting preferred) with a graduation date of May or December 2026.
  • Master's degree candidates are welcome to apply but must have one year or less of prior professional experience.
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
