About The Position

The Commercial Banker position is primarily responsible for performing a wide variety of daily tasks and assisting Commercial Loan Officers in providing extraordinary customer service. Requires working knowledge of bank products, services, and core software platforms to provide customers with a positive commercial loan experience.

Requirements

  • Moderate computer skills including: word processing, spreadsheet applications, loan software and bank’s core financial system.
  • Basic accounting skills to perform balancing, reconciliation, reporting and analysis functions.
  • Basic knowledge of bank products, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to explain bank products and services to sell and cross-sell bank products and services and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Moderate written, oral, and interpersonal skills with ability to provide information and courteous responses to requests.
  • At least 90 days in current position desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior commercial loan processing experience desired.
  • Strong knowledge of, and presence in, the community and market area is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic secretarial duties such as receiving and distributing mail, maintaining a calendar, receiving and screening telephone calls and visitors. Respond to inquiries or route callers to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform loan support duties such as running credit bureau reports, filing, making copies, scanning documents, using word processing and spreadsheet programs, receiving and processing loan payments, processing loan extensions, etc.
  • Receive loan applications, prepare loan documentation, collect fees and documentation related to funded loans.
  • Communicate with people inside and outside the corporation to exchange information and/or provide customer service.
  • Cross-trained in other areas within the department to provide back-up for other staff members during peak periods, employee absences, and staffing emergencies.
  • Establish, maintain, and update departmental files and records.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding account information. May assist customers in balancing account statements and loan information.
  • Research and resolve account issues, initiate and/or follow up on requested research requests.
  • Complete loan closings as needed.
  • Scan documents/files into document imaging system.
  • Verify all documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete CIP/OFAC process for customers and businesses.
  • Gather documentation requests by loan officer and for compliance.
  • Limited Loan Authority
  • Demonstrate ability to apply proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting of typed material.
