About The Position

The Commercial Banker will originate commercial loans, promote the commercial banking institution and its lending and depository services to the community and help to identify and serve the community’s financial needs by participating in community activities. This role will promote correspondent banking services within b1Bank as well as to outside bank partners across the region.  This position will serve as a community leader that helps to identify and serve the community’s financial needs, as well as the needs of other financial institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in a commercial banking setting.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures including state and federal regulations.
  • Strong sales, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with customers about the commercial banking programs and policies.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial and industrial lending experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit commercial loans and deposit relationships for the commercial banking institution.
  • Inform prospective commercial loan clients of the institution’s underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Receive loan applications, negotiate terms and close loans on major projects and substantial loan requests.
  • Evaluate and negotiate potential customer loan requests and makes loan approval recommendations to management, including analyzing applicant’s credit history, repayment capabilities, and collateral specifications.
  • Market the commercial banking institution’s ancillary products and services to clients.
  • Manage the client’s banking accounts for the life of the client’s relationship.
  • Promote correspondent banking services internally by attending various loan production meetings, keeping lenders up to date with changing products / specials, and approving loans when necessary.
  • Promote correspondent banking services to outside bank partners by calling on, educating, and assisting with the approval of products.
  • Communicate complex approvals or products to other financial institutions.
  • Participate in the institution’s community activities and maintain close contact with local business owners, potential high net worth clients and other financial institution prospects.
