About The Position

Methodist Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Colorectal Surgeon to join our growing esteemed surgical team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to adult patients, encompassing the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various medical and surgical care to patients with diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. This includes, but is not limited to, the diagnosis, treatment, and management of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, anorectal disorders, and other benign and malignant conditions. The Colorectal Surgeon will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position involves a mix of clinic, surgical, and on-call responsibilities. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program
  • Completion of an accredited Colorectal Surgery fellowship program
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Colorectal Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and/or the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery
  • Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Texas, or eligibility for licensure
  • DEA registration
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practice

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of colorectal surgical procedures, including open, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches
  • Diagnose and treat diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), diverticular disease, hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, and pilonidal disease
  • Conduct patient consultations, perform physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based medicine and patient needs
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including managing complications
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedules
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
  • Engage in continuous professional development and stay abreast of the latest advancements in colorectal surgery
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings
